Your main tasks

As the Director of Project Management, you will oversee the efficient execution of complex automation projects through a team of Project Managers (PRMA). This role involves providing oversight, managing risks, monitoring project financials, and keeping the organization informed of potential challenges. Additionally, you will develop and lead a high-performing team of Project Managers through coaching, mentoring, and training. All while ensuring commitments to customers are met while adhering to internal processes and procedures for consistency and efficiency. You will also serve as a liaison between the PRMA and customer representatives during escalations to resolve conflicts and ensure customer satisfaction. 
Job Summary: The Director of Project Management is responsible for overseeing the efficient execution of complex automation projects through a team of Project Managers (PRMAs). This role involves strategic decision-making, risk management, and ensuring project consistency and quality. The Director will develop and lead a high-performing team, maintain strong customer relationships, and ensure adherence to internal processes and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate project status and understand required resources.
  • Manage a diverse team of PRMAs, developing and executing performance plans, coaching, and ensuring consistency. 
  • Make strategic decisions and guide project managers. 
  • Review project Change Orders for approval and impact. 
  • Regularly meet with Project Managers to review project status and ensure readiness and quality. 
  • Identify risks, develop plans, and escalate issues to management. 
  • Support Project Managers in meetings and during project phases. 
  • Act as a point of escalation for internal and customer concerns. 
  • Ensure project management processes are followed and develop process improvements. 
  • Communicate with the Director of Sales about the project pipeline. 
  • Ensure adequate staffing for current and future projects. 
  • Assign PRMAs to review potential projects for scope, critical processes, and costs.

Requirements

  • Experience in industrial automation. 
  • Knowledge of the medical/pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365. 
  • Supervisory or managerial experience. 
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. 
  • Valid state driver's license and passport eligibility. 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the year. 
  • Availability to work necessary hours to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or related field. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager in automation. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Director of Project Management. 
  • Education in PMO and Risk Management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage direct reports within the Project Management department. 
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and applicable laws. 
  • Handle hiring, training, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions. 
  • Address complaints and resolve problems. 
  • Build effective teams, motivate employees, and manage conflicts. 
  • Lead with integrity and maintain confidentiality.

Work Environment

  • Typical office noise. 
  • Physical requirements include various movements and visual acuity.

Pay Range

  • $140,000 - $160,000 per year
