Your main tasks

The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for driving sustainable and strategic growth. As a member of Mikron’s sales team, the KAM represents Mikron and serves as the face of the business to their assigned accounts while also acting as the voice of the customer within the Mikron organization. By embodying Mikron’s core values—Responsibility, Customer-focused, Results Driven, Quality Oriented, Highly Motivated, and Strict Confidentiality—the KAM will nurture customer relationships and achieve commercial growth targets to support overall Mikron growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sales Targets: Identify and secure capital equipment opportunities to meet yearly order entry targets.
  • Trusted Automation Advisor: Consult with customers on manufacturing and automation systems solutions, articulating the value of a Mikron partnership.
  • Prospecting: Research target accounts, identify appropriate contacts, and introduce Mikron to expand the account base.
  • Opportunity Development: Nurture relationships within assigned accounts to obtain RFQs; work with customers to define technical and tactical needs, budget constraints, and other project specifications; collaborate with the Sales Director and Application Engineer to develop concepts and budgetary pricing.
  • Closing Deals: Develop and execute sales strategies, identify decision-makers and influencers, lead proposal development, articulate Mikron’s value proposition, and facilitate the resolution of legal and contractual issues.
  • Customer Management: Ensure positive customer perception of Mikron, champion customer interests within Mikron, resolve internal challenges, and identify opportunities to grow account share.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive environment changes, and new developments with accounts.

Essential Duties:

  • Research target companies and identify key decision-makers.
  • Generate customer interest in Mikron.
  • Quickly develop relationships and trust.
  • Deliver introductory presentations to various customer audiences.
  • Understand and articulate customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Applications Engineering, Subject Matter Experts, and Operations to develop compliant automation solutions.
  • Draft and deliver automation proposals.
  • Negotiate and influence customer teams.
  • Manage customer expectations and balance customer and company interests.
  • Transform and nurture assigned accounts into a “personal franchise.”
  • Maintain SalesForce data integrity and develop impromptu reports.

Work Environment: The position is based in an office environment, manufacturing, and machine shop setting, which involves associated risks or discomforts requiring safety precautions. Duties require standing, sitting, walking, crawling, kneeling, bending, using hands to handle or feel, reaching, speaking, hearing, and seeing. Exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels is expected. The role involves long hours and travel, interfacing with other departments, external vendors, and customers.

Location: Position can be remote; relocation to the greater Denver area is not required.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering or Applications Engineering in the machine building or automation industry.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing and oral communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and advanced Excel spreadsheet experience.
  • Must reside within 50 miles of a major international airport and be willing to travel up to 75%.

Preferred:

  • Experience with the GAMP5 / Validation and Verification Model, ISO 13485.
  • Technical or commercial experience in the medical device, life sciences, and pharmaceutical industries.
  • 3+ years of successful sales experience.

Professional & Technical Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering or Applications Engineering in the machine building or automation industry.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing and oral communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and advanced Excel spreadsheet experience.
  • Must reside within 50 miles of a major international airport and be willing to travel up to 75%.
  • Valid state driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
