Ballpoint Pen Tip Manufacturing

Mikron Machining has been at the forefront of ballpoint pen tip manufacturing since the early days of the ballpoint pen. Our high-precision machinery has played a key role in the stationery industry, enabling efficient ballpoint pen manufacturing by producing top-quality writing tips and assembling refills.

Every day, over 200 million ball pen tips are manufactured using Mikron machines - representing 95% of all tips worldwide. This industry dominance highlights our expertise and leadership in ballpoint pen tip manufacturing. Our Mikron Multistar high-speed rotary transfer machines deliver exceptional accuracy and efficiency, meeting the most demanding quality standards.

Complete ballpoint pen tip manufacturing solutions

Mikron provides a fully automated production line that covers every stage of ballpoint pen tip manufacturing, from pre-machining equipment to the final testing machine:

Writing test machine – Mikron ATW-10

Wire cutting machine

The Mikron TR-42 wire cutting machine is essential for pre-machining metal wires used in ballpoint pen tip manufacturing. It precisely shears wire to create blanks, optimizing production efficiency. Using Mikron wire processing machines enhances the output rate of downstream transfer machines, ensuring a smoother ballpoint pen manufacturing process.

Tip manufacturing with a rotary transfer machine

Ballpen tips made from brass, nickel-silver, or stainless steel are efficiently produced on the Mikron Multistar LX-24 machine, a high-performance rotary transfer machine.

With 24 workstations and up to 44 working units, it ensures smooth, high-volume production of ballpoint pen tips with exceptional precision. This advanced technology enables machining from both above and below, providing an industry-leading solution.

Most leading ballpoint pen brands rely on Mikron machines to produce their writing tips with unparalleled consistency and quality.

Automatic test writer

To guarantee superior performance in ballpoint pen manufacturing, the Mikron ATW-10 Automatic Test Writer rigorously tests the writing quality of cartridges and reservoirs.

The equipment tests simultaneously ten refills in different writing angles between 60º and 90º. The recording mechanism enables the "writing distance" to be read off in meters by means of a recording instrument directly connected to the paper feed.
